Prioritising sustainable design
We want to make sure that Ashlands is a development fit for the future. This means thinking about more than just providing new homes. It means that we are exploring ideas such as incorporating renewable energy sources and a fabric-first approach to design in order to enhance insultation.
We are also committed to providing electric vehicle charging facilities in every home on the site and will be incorporating sustainable drainage systems that will reduce flood risk and improve water quality in nearby streams and rivers.

As a result, we are putting a lot of thought into how the plans for Ashlands can deliver benefits for local wildlife. We are committed to delivering a net gain in biodiversity and will deliver extensive areas of new planting to provide additional habitats.

One of the benefits of the Ashlands site is that it provides an opportunity to deliver much-needed new homes in a sustainable location. This site is one of a small number in the local area that can provide new homes on a sustainable site.
Traffic and travel
Delivering sustainable travel opportunities
We recognise that the community will have concerns about the impact of additional homes on local roads. We are carefully considering this in consultation with relevant stakeholders to ensure appropriate mitigation is in place.
We are also looking at ways in which we can encourage future residents on the site to travel more sustainably. This includes enhanced connectivity and the creation of new routes to ensure people can access essential services by walking and cycling.
We are also ensuring that all of our new homes come pre-equipped with electric vehicle charging points, making the switch to cleaner transportation easier and more accessible for residents whenever they choose.
